AC repair and replacement in Phoenix
When the house will not cool down, you want a straight answer quickly. We find the fault, show it to you, and give you a written price for the repair. If the system is near the end of its life, you get a replacement price too, so you can compare.
Signs it needs a technician
Is your AC trying to tell you something?
- It runs all afternoon but the house stays above the thermostat setting.
- Air from the vents feels barely cooler than the room.
- Water around the indoor unit, or ice on the copper lines outside.
- The outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin.
- It trips the breaker, clicks on and off, or smells of burning.
Before you call
Check that the thermostat is on Cool, replace a dirty filter and reset the breaker once. If the outdoor fan is not spinning, switch the system off: running it that way can damage the compressor.
What a repair visit includes
Diagnosis, a written price, then the fix
The technician checks electrical parts, motors, refrigerant pressures and the temperature drop across the indoor coil, then explains what failed. Most common parts are on the truck, so many repairs are finished the same visit.
- Diagnostic visit (credited if you go ahead)
- from$79
- Capacitor replacement
- from$165
- Condenser fan motor
- from$395
- Condensate drain clear and flush
- from$129
- Refrigerant leak search
- from$249
Sample prices for this demo. Your written price depends on the system and the part.
Repair or replace?
A quick rule of thumb
Multiply the age of the system in years by the repair price. If the result is over 5,000, it is worth pricing a replacement before you decide. It is a starting point, not a verdict.
Other things count too. Systems installed before about 2010 often use R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced, so leak repairs get expensive. Rooms that never cool, or bills that keep rising, can also point to a system that is the wrong size for the house.
Example: a 12-year-old system with a $450 repair gives 5,400, so get both prices.
AC replacement
A new system, sized for your house, not the old one
A complete replacement starts from $7,400 (sample price). Every quote is in writing, with the equipment, the work and the price on one page.
Load calculation
We measure rooms, windows and insulation to size the system, instead of copying the old tonnage.
Matched equipment
Outdoor and indoor units chosen to work together, from leading brands, with the efficiency options explained.
Duct check
We test airflow and look for leaking or crushed ducts that would waste a new system.
Permit and inspection
We pull the city permit where one is needed and arrange the inspection.
Clean install
Drop cloths inside, the old equipment hauled away, and refrigerant recovered properly.
Walk-through
We set up the thermostat with you and register the manufacturer warranty.
AC questions
Air conditioning FAQs
Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?
The usual causes are a failed capacitor or fan motor, a dirty outdoor coil, a clogged filter, low refrigerant from a leak, or a frozen indoor coil. Turn the system off if you see ice, check the filter, and call us if it still does not cool.
Can you add refrigerant to my AC?
We can, but refrigerant does not get used up. If the level is low, there is a leak, and topping it up only buys time. We find the leak first and give you the price to fix it.
How long does an AC replacement take?
Most like-for-like replacements are finished in one day. Changes to ductwork, electrical work or moving the equipment can add a second day. We give you the schedule in writing with the quote.
